When It Comes To Social Media It's Not The Same Old Song!

Almost every time I present or work with a client, I am asked whether it is okay to post the SAME content to both Facebook and Instagram. The term is called cross-posting. I understand this is tempting, because it is so easy. However, 95% of the time, the content you post on Facebook needs to be different than what you post on Insta. It could be on the same topic - for instance a new weight loss program you are promoting. Factors such as image size, caption or headline and what you say should differ according to the platform. Creating unique posts for each platform may sound like too much work, but you don’t need to start from scratch every time.

Even small tweaks make a difference!

Here are a few tips:
1. Optimize your images/videos for each platform
2. Change the caption to tailor to your platform
3. Schedule your post for an optimal time
4. Have a clear call to action

For instance, your weight loss program promo might have a cool video on Facebook where you post video testimonials from past participants with a quote as your written post. Your call to action can be a link to a landing page for participants to sign up or you may have them message you to learn more. The same content on Instagram might be a carousel of pics from a past program, with a quick caption, some specifically designed hashtags and a link in your bio to the sign-up landing page. Same content, different formats!
